The packaging of the future will be 100% biodegradable. At Hispack 2009 you could see resistant bags made from potato starch, labels created from stone or corn derivatives, water-based print inks and packages for cosmetics and perfumes that degrade naturally.
Antioxidants in packaging
The show featured packaging prototypes containing natural antioxidants such as vitamin E or oregano extracts to extend the shelf-life of food and prevent the appearance of mould and micro-organisms.
Less material, more sustainability
New packaging was presented made using the minimum possible plastic to reduce the impact on the environment. The result: the most lightweight bottle in the world, weighing just 6.6 grams.
